out of your pocket? Or did you get out your book of gift certificates
and issue a new one for the difference?
With gift cards, you don't have to give up your paper
gift certificates. The two are really different products, and you can
keep them both if you want to. When you offer gift cards you're just
giving your customers more options and greater flexibility. You make
easier for them to spend money in your store. And the reward for you is a
roughly 300% increase in sales over your paper gift certificates.
As an added benefit, if you have customers who need to
return merchandise, you no longer have to give them money out of the
till and lose the sale. You can issue store credit on a gift card!
They'll come back later to spend the money on their card (and possibly
more than that as well).
